IMPORTANT CHANGES IN JEE MAIN-2020
EXAM PATTERN : GAME CHANGERS

I hope for many of the students reading this blog has their JEE MAIN preparation well on track. In Fact, for a few of you, it was going very well until the recent notification from NTA came out announcing many changes in the JEE MAIN exam pattern. These recently announced changes have created a lot of confusion among the aspirants of JEE MAIN. Hence we at PERFECT ACADEMY have decided to decode these changes and explain it in detail in this article.

  1. Number of questions -
Earlier JEE MAIN had 90 questions with each Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics having equal weightage of 30 questions. Well, in revised pattern JEE MAIN-2020 now we will have a totally 75 questions with every subject having equal weightage of 25 questions.

  1. Nature Of Questions-
In these 25 questions for every subject, 20 will be MCQ type with one correct answer and 5 questions will be Numerical answer type where the student must give input in terms of integer from 1-9 in order to answer. Hence 60 MCQs and 15 numerical value answer type questions.

  1. Mark distribution & Total Marks-
Each question of JEE MAIN will carry 4 marks making a total examination of 300 marks. Each correct answer will carry 4 Marks & Every non attempted question will give 0 Mark. Negative marking pattern is applicable in the exam with the following changes
  1. For MCQ type questions - If student answers and goes wrong in these types of questions then it will cost him (-1) mark. Hence -1 will be rewarded for attempted wrong MCQ.
  2. For Numerical answer type questions- Numerical answer type questions will not have negative marking. Hence if students attend and go wrong he/she gets 0 marks.

     4. Duration of the examination-
For JEE Main paper-1 (PCM) duration is 3 hours. It will be conducted in both FN & AN sessions.

    5.Mode of Examination-
JEE Main paper-1 will be conducted only in online mode. However, paper-2 for (B.Arch) are planned in both modes.

6.How Many Times A Year JEE Main is conducted-
As like 2019 in 2020 also JEE Main will be conducted twice in a year in the month of January & May.

 7. How to deal with These Changes-
There are two most important things students should follow to avoid any panic in preparation. The first is to read and accept all the changes in the exam & not to have confusion about them. Also, don't consider it as some injustice with you as few are predicting slightly higher toughness. Remember if there is any change it will be applicable for all and not only for you.
Second thing student follow is to keep content of the preparation same as there are no changes in syllabus whatsoever but they must change practice pattern. Here onwards 20% questions in every assignment and tests attempted should be of Numerical answer type questions as these types of questions will be game-changers now.

Please give your valuable comments.

I wish you All the Best For Your Preparation.
